About Me
A Father & A Visionary Person
From the storied corridors of our ancestors’ legacy to the vibrant streets of Bago City that I serve today, my journey is one deeply rooted in a tradition of public service. I am Ramon “Monet” Diasnes Torres, born on May 26, 1964, to Atty. Francisco Y. Torres and Lydia Diasnes Torres. My parents, both esteemed figures in Bago City and Dumangas, Iloilo, nurtured me in a household where service was more than a duty—it was our calling. The tales of my grandfather, former Senator Ramon Araneta Torres, and my uncle, Former Mayor Manuel Y. Torres, were not just bedtime stories; they were the blueprints of the path I was destined to follow.
My academic voyage led me to the University of St. La Salle, where I delved into the world of Commerce, specializing in Marketing. This educational foundation was not merely about acquiring knowledge; it was about preparing myself for a life dedicated to serving my community. With a degree in hand and a heart full of ambition, I embarked on what would become a 35-year odyssey in public service.
How it started?
Starting as a humble Barangay Kagawad in Barangay Poblacion, I learned the ropes from the ground up. Each step of the way, from Councilor to Vice Mayor, and then as Mayor from 2007 to 2016, was a chapter in a larger story of commitment, resilience, and progress. Today, as I serve once again as Vice Mayor, my dedication to the advancement of Bago City is as fervent as ever.
My Mission
My mission is to enhance the quality of life for every resident of our community through inclusive and sustainable development, efficient delivery of public services, and the promotion of a vibrant economy.
My Vision
My vision is to be a model city that honors its rich historical legacy while embracing progress and innovation. I aspire to create a community where every citizen is empowered to achieve their fullest potential, supported by a governance that is transparent, accountable, and responsive to their needs.
My Philosophy
My philosophy is rooted in the belief that effective governance is built on the principles of integrity, inclusiveness, and collaboration. I am guided by the conviction that public service is a noble calling, one that requires us to put the needs and well-being of our community above all else.
More About Me
Throughout my career, I have sought not just to hold positions, but to make a tangible difference in the lives of the people I serve. My approach to governance is anchored in understanding the needs of our community, fostering inclusive growth, and ensuring that every policy and program we implement leaves a lasting impact.
As I reflect on my journey, I am reminded that public service is not just a profession; it’s a privilege. It’s about being a steward of our community’s trust and aspirations. It’s about building upon the legacy of those who came before us while paving new paths for future generations.
In every challenge we face and every victory we celebrate, I am inspired by the enduring spirit of our people. Together, we are writing the next chapter in Bago City’s story—one of innovation, unity, and prosperity. My commitment to you is unwavering: I will continue to serve with integrity, passion, and a steadfast belief in our collective potential to achieve greatness.
